IMPORTANCE OF EDITING
An editor is a technician involved right from the script stage to being on the sets of the shoot until the post production, censor certificate and even promo making stage for the marketing of the film.
Editors work very closely with various other technicians such as the Sound Engineer, Cinematographer, VFX Supervisor, the Producer, including the captain of the ship i.e. the Director at various stages of seeing the film through.
They say a movie can be rewritten at the Editing table and the script can sometimes be turned around too by the Editor in consultation of course with the Director and the team.
So, whether one wants to be a cinematographer, script writer, screen play writer, promo maker, even directors (many Editors have grown to becoming directors as a natural progression ) having the knowledge of basic Editing is crucial and beneficial to all. And gives one a cutting edge!
